Most clients find the process very tolerable, especially considering the long-term convenience.
Longevity varies by treatment area, skin type, and lifestyle. Eyebrows typically last 1-3 years, eyeliner lasts 2-5 years, and lip color lasts 2-3 years. Factors affecting duration include sun exposure (fades color faster), skincare products used, skin type (oily skin fades faster), immune system, age, and smoking. Unlike traditional tattoos, permanent makeup is designed to fade gradually, requiring periodic touch-ups to maintain optimal appearance. Annual or bi-annual refreshing maintains your results.
Yes, when performed by trained, certified professionals using proper techniques and following strict hygiene protocols. At Nirvana Med Spa, our permanent makeup artists are certified, use sterile single-use needles, follow health department regulations, and use high-quality pigments specifically formulated for facial use. Risks are minimal but include infection (rare with proper aftercare), allergic reaction, and dissatisfaction with results. We conduct thorough consultations to ensure you're a good candidate and understand what to expect.
Healing takes 4-6 weeks. Immediately after, the area appears darker and more intense than the final result. Days 1-7 involve swelling, redness, and darkness. Days 7-14 bring flaking, scabbing, and color loss (can lose 40-50% of color). Weeks 2-6 involve continued healing and color returning. Final results are visible at 6 weeks post-procedure. A touch-up appointment 6-8 weeks later perfects color and fills any light areas. Proper aftercare is crucial for optimal healing and retention.
Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 7 days before, discontinue retinoids and exfoliants 2 weeks prior, don't tan or sunburn the area, avoid waxing or tinting 2 weeks before, arrive with clean skin free of makeup, don't get Botox within 2 weeks of brow procedures, stay hydrated and eat before your appointment, and bring photos of desired results for reference.
